The OSFS Congregation tries to respond to a growing need among the most fragile members of our society — the orphans, other vulnerable children, street-children as well as adults suffering from HIV/AIDS. In the past various priests started social projects but had to terminate them because of a lack of funds.
In 2001, together with the Catholic AIDS Action program started by our national Bishops’ Conference, we set up a soup-kitchen project to feed those most in need. The late Fr. Nicolas Bergkamp OSFS was very instrumental in acquiring funds for this project. However, since his death on 11 June 2006, the certainty of the future of the soup-kitchen project hangs in a balance unless your generous donations keep it open and functioning.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays one soup meal — consisting of rich vegetables and other nutrients – is provided to about 300 children and adults.
The cost of providing one meal per day per person is about US$1.50 (1 Euro).
The ideal is to have the soup-kitchen open for seven days a week, but our available funds will not be able to cover all those expenses.
We thank you and all generous people who supported this project in the past through our late Fr. Nicolas Bergkamp.
Please, help us to continue this good work, to the greater glory of God.
The name of the little boy above is “GANGAN” - which translates “thanks, gratitude”.
On behalf of all the children , we thank you. May God continue to bless you.
